Fairtrade Labeling Organization (FLO)
The Fairtrade Labeling Organization, or FLO, is an international fair trade organization which is a network of 24 organizations working for the producers to secure a sustainable livelihood.The FLO owns the FAIRTRADE Mark, and sets its own fair trade laws and standards. When you see the FAIRTRADE Labeling Organization label on a product it means that all fairtrade standards set by the Fairtrade Labeling Organization have been met.
KEY OBJECTIVES FOR FAIRTRADE "LAWS" AND STANDARDS OF THE FAIRTRADE LABELING ORGANIZATON --to ensure producers receive prices that cover costs --ensure they get additional premium to enable them to invest in culturally relevant businesses to enhance their communities through social and economic empowerment --give them greater control over the trading process and introduce long term partnerships --set clear minimum standards to ensure that the products are economically fair and environmentally responsible --enable pre-financing to those producers in need
