Climbing for Kids

Bay Area Wilderness Training (BAWT) is an Oakland, CA based non-profit organization whose mission is to create opportunities for urban youth to experience wilderness first hand. BAWT runs year-round training programs for youth workers, camp counselors, and others to equip them with the necessary skills to take at-risk urban youth on overnight camping and hiking trips. To date, BAWT has enabled over 10,000 kids to experience the great outdoors; many for the very first time.A new program organized by BAWT called Climbing for Kids, offers program participants a chance to climb a mountain and raise money for the organization at the same time. On September 26, Jared Alster, and his father Michael, will attempt to climb 14,411-foot Mt. Rainier, the highest mountain in the Cascade range in Washington State. The money raised through your generous donations will be used to support wilderness programs for at-risk and underprivileged youth. These are kids who have never slept under the stars, seen a deer in the wild, or jumped into a cool mountain lake after a long hike. You can support this important cause by making a tax-deductible donation in any amount. Your gift goes directly towards BAWT and into their fund for future outdoor leadership training programs. Any amount helps and all donations can be made by clicking the link below:
