Eco-Spas...the latest trend in sustainable luxury.
I had to include a section on eco-spas because spas are one of my top three favorite things in life.
When we think of fair trade, eco-tourism and sustainability, we tend to have a picture of a rugged, luxury deprived existence, and a no-frills travel experience. It doesn't have to be this way at all!
The concept of an eco-spa is a spa in tune with the environment, as well as your health and personal needs. The spas I chose have a deep respect for nature and its natural limits, and the harmony of people coexisting with nature.
These spas all have some or all of the following:
Reclaimed materials in the construction of their buildings, solar power, sustainable organic gardens, locally-made fair trade amenities, fresh and local organic food, local and organic spa products, recycling and contribution to the local economy.
All this and you still get your pampering! Fresh herbal wraps, a wide variety of massages, saunas, facials, you name it. You can live consciously and luxuriously...so enjoy the best of both worlds!!!
Here are some of my favorites. (And there are many more to come!)
