European Fair Trade Association (EFTA)
The European Fair Trade Association (EFTA) acts as a trade association for importers only. The group began informally in 1987 and gained formal status in 1990. The members are eleven importers in nine countries. These are Austria, Belgium, France,Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the U.K.
The EFTA maintains a database of its suppliers,called Fairdata. They act as a liason between importers and encourage cooperation and coordinate the exchange of information and networking.EFTA members are some of the biggest and oldest fair trade importers in the world, made up of the following companies.
