Fair Trade Certified and How it Works
TransFair USA is the organization that moniters importers, manufacturers and distributers in the U.S. and allows them to use the Fair Trade Certified label. TransFair is part of the
Fairtrade Labeling Organization
who moniters the producers. TransFair USA allows U.S. companies to display the label on products that are in compliance with the strict Fair Trade standards.
---Fair Trade Certification only applies to the following items: bananas, cocoa, coffee, cotton, flowers, fresh fruit, honey, juices, rice, spices, herbs, sports balls, sugar, tea, wine and composite products.

FAIR TRADE CERTIFIFICATION IS NOT ONLY ABOUT FARE WAGES, IT INCLUDES ALL OF THESE FAIR TRADE PRINCIPLES
--Fair Prices. Farmers receive a minimum guaranteed floor price. --Direct Trade. Importers buy from producers as directly as possible, allowing the farmers to compete in a global marketplace by eliminating the middleman. --Fair Labor Conditions. Safe and happy working conditions. Forced child labor is strictly prohibited. --Social and community development. Farmers and farm workers invest in social programs like quality improvement traning, education and organic certification to build and continually better their situation. --Environmental sustainability.
Each Fair Trade Certification for agricultural products requires product specific criteria and must be approved by the
