Fair Trade Success Stories

Let's look at some success stories for inspiration.

It is important to know the facts about unfair trade and to know how the things we buy every day are made and where they come from. The stories are true and sad, but necessary.

But now it's time to get inspired by people who have made a difference through work and conscious consumerism.

Please feel free to contribute a story of your own. Just scroll to the bottom of the page and give us a blog. We love pictures too, so if you'd like to ad one, please do!

Also, check out the shopping links and get some great fair trade stuff!

Check out some of my favorite successes! And there's always more to come.

GLOBAL EXCHANGE --An international nonprofit human rights organization dedicated to promoting social, economic and environmental justice around the world.

EMBER ARTS --A socially proactive, Fair Trade Federation business partnering with the Acholi people of Uganda to sell their beautiful recycled paper bead jewelry. A business that's fair trade AND green!

ANITA RODDICK AND THE BODY SHOP --One of my personal heroes she founded the Body Shop and was active in creating change and supporting human rights around the world.

MANOS CAMPESINOS...A GUATEMALAN SUCCESS STORY --How a group of coffee growers in Guatemala organized to create a hugely successful co-op and provide a better life for themselves and their communities.

THE BATTLE IN SEATTLE Remember the WTO protest in 1999? Many of us remember this as a huge success, and an inspiring, demonstration by courageous people.

ARTS AFRICAINS --Aicha Gomet purchases all of her beautiful items in Africa straight from the source, eliminating buyers. She is able to pay over and above fair trade prices for these treasures.

STARBUCKS CAMPAIGN Starbucks, TransFair USA and Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International Announce Groundbreaking Initiative to Support Small-Scale Coffee Farmers
