The World Fair Trade Organization
The World Fair Trade Organization is the only organization who represent all aspects of fair trade from producers to sellers. The WFTO are the original voice of fair trade and its biggest organization, operating globally in 70 countries covering the five regions of Africa, Asia, Latin America, North America, the Pacific Rim and Europe. WFTO members dedicated to eradicating poverty through sustainable economic development. The group consists of 110 million artisans, farmers, growers and producers. The WFTO logo is not a product mark, but displayed by businesses, producers, networks and cooperatives which contribute $2.2 billion in Fair Trade sales worldwide annually. Membership in the World Fair Trade Organization is often combined with another regional membership, strengthening the network and ensuring consumers of the member's commitment to fair trade practices.

In order to become a member of the WFTO, a business, producer or oganization must follow these TEN STANDARDS set by the WFTO, and they are monitered to ensure they are carried out on a day to day basis.ONE: Create opportunities for economically disadvantaged producers TWO:Transparency and accountability THREE:Trading practices.Sellers may not maximize profit at the producers expense. The WFTO sets long, strict guidelines for trading practices. FOUR:Payment at a fair price. FIVE:Ensures that there is no child and forced labor. SIX: Non discrimination, gender equity and freedome of association. SEVEN: Safe and healthy working conditions. EIGHT:Capacity building to help improve producer management skills, production capabilities and access to markets. NINE:Promotion of Fair Trade TEN:Sustainable environmental practices.
